IHI's Update on COVID-19

As tensions rise and stocks fall, governments and institutions around the world have been responding in various ways to the threats posed by COVID-19, the illness caused by the novel coronavirus. The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) considers it a top priority to ensure the safety and well-being of the global health and health care community, including our event attendees, faculty, and staff. The IHI community consists of health care professionals, students, patients, and caregivers across the globe, and we know many lives are being impacted and disrupted by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. In order to decrease transmission of COVID-19 UTIHI is in support of the movement put fourth by the Canadian government and together promote social distancing. Social distancing involves taking steps to limit the number of people you come into close contact with. This will help to limit the spread of COVID-19 in the community. This means minimizing close contact with others during the peak of an outbreak. In addition to staying home when ill, we should plan for actions we can take if we need to reduce the spread of infection in places where we gather.
